What Is Creative Writing?
Creative Writing is any writing that goes beyond the general professional, journalistic, scholarly, or technical forms of literature, usually identified with narrative artistic, character development, and the use of literary traps or various traditions of poetry. Occurs with Poetry. Due to the laxity of the definition, writing like reporting can be considered as creative writing, although they fall under the category of journalism because reporting material focuses exclusively on narrative and character development. Both fiction and non-fiction fall into this category, including novels, biographies, short stories, and poems. In an educational environment, Creative Writing is generally divided into fiction and poetry classes, focusing on the original style rather than copying pre-existing genres such as crime or horror. Writing for screen and stage (screenwriting and playwriting) is often taught separately, but it also fits into the category of Creative Writing.
Technically, Creative Writing can be considered any original writing. In this sense, Creative Writing is the name of a more modern and methodical way, traditionally called literature, which includes a variety of its genres. In her work, the Foundations of Creativity, Marie Lee Marcus Berry cites Paul Witty and Lou Labrant's Teaching Popular Language to illustrate Creative Writing.
